7th/8th Grade Enrichment Courses 2023

For Grades 7/8 Only. Students will take two courses during their 8:30 am – 12:00 pm summer school day, first semester only (June 12-27, no school on June 19th). Students will be placed in 1st or 2nd period sections based on enrollment numbers and individual course selection.

7th or 8th Grade English Prep

These courses are provided for enrichment only and prepare students for the types of writing and analysis they will experience in the year of English ahead of them.

 

7th or 8th Grade Math Prep

These courses are provided for enrichment only and prepare students for the year of math ahead of them. Incoming 7th graders may take 8th Grade Math Prep with counselor approval.

 

Mastering Middle School with Tech Tools & Study Strategies This Class is Full – Contact Us to Join the Waitlist

Learn how the right technology and study strategies can help you succeed in middle school. Offered for grades 7 or 8.

 

Ceramics This Class is Full – Contact Us to Join the Waitlist

This beginning ceramics class explores a variety of hand building techniques using clay. Students will be able to express themselves by making a fun and easy clay form everyday. By the end of the class session, students will bring home their finished and glazed ceramic pieces. Offered for grades 7 or 8. Requires additional $60 materials fee.

 

Cooking This Class is Full – Contact Us to Join the Waitlist

This course will provide skill development in the pathway of food services and hospitality. The student receives training in kitchen safety and sanitation, equipment, and facility use, knife skills, introductory baking, meats and poultry, short-order cook. Offered for grades 7 or 8. Requires additional $60 materials fee.

 

Financial Literacy for Middle School – NEW!

Financial literacy for middle schoolers will include the importance of financial responsibility, money management and smart decision making to ensure overall financial well-being.

 

Introduction to Korean – NEW! – Open to students in grades 7- 10

In this introductory Korean course, students will become familiar with Hangul, the Korean phonetic system, as well as basic grammar and foundational vocabulary. Through a range of activities, including cultural games, students will develop their interpretive, interpersonal and presentational communication skills.
